Upper Dolpo Trekking


Trekking to Upper Dolpo or Shey-Gompa Trekking in other words, allures you to explore inner Dolpo, which has aura of mysticism. Trekking in the Dolpo region has only been permitted since mid-1989. The region lies to the west of the Kali Gandaki Valley; Dolpo is located inside Shey-Phoksundo National Park in mid-western Nepal, to the West of the Dhaulagiri massif, and is bordered with the Tibetan plateau.

Time has been standing still at upper Dolpo, the truly isolated at the corner of Nepal, for centuries, because inhabitants of Tibetan stock continue to live, cultivate and trade the way they have done for hundreds of years. Trekking to this region offers you with the opportunities of visiting ancient villages, high passes, beautiful Lakes, isolated Buddhist monasteries as well as the experiences of the vast array of wildlife inhabiting at the region, including Blue Sheep, Mountain Goat, Jackal, Wolf and the legendary Snow Leopard.

  • Trekking cook, kitchen staff, Trek Sherpa and other trekking porters.
  • Porters to carry all personal gear and group equipment.
  • Insurance of all staff including porters.
