Mount Kailash via Simikot

SimikotTrekking to Mt. Kailash and Mansarovar, the center of the Universe for Hindus and Buddhists both is possible through Simikot (distrtict headquater of Humla) as well. Mt Kailash (Kangrinpoche) situated at western part of Tibet, has been considered sacred by Buddhists, Hindus, Jains and Bonpos for thousands of years. It is a paradise reflected in their religious inscriptures. The trek leads you to the mountain, on whose top Lord Shiva is believed still dwelling in meditation. As a pilgrimage around the mountain and its vicinity, it is a sacred goal for the devotees. Pilgrims walking overland for weeks or months, feel they are really approaching to the Center of the Universe, as they reach Mt. Kailash. It has been remaining as the pilgrimage site for centuries. Mt. Kailash is also revered as the fountain source of four of the great rivers of Asia, fueled by the waters of the nearby holy lake Mansarover. The rivers are Sindhu, Bramhaputra (Tsangpo), Karnali (the sacred Ganges) and Sutlaj have their sources within sixty miles of the mountain. Holy Lake, Manasovar itself is another center of attraction of this trek.
