ICR_Annapurna Nar Phu Trek and Highent Canyoning 2011
(Probably CANYON equipped at highest elevation in the world)
Introduction:
Canyoning as an extreme adventure that involves abseiling, sliding, jumping into deep pool, swimming and climbing down waterfalls on steep canyon cliffs strapped in harness with help of ropes and other tools and outfitted in wet suit, helmet etc.. This unique combination of skills gives the intrepid canyoneers the freedom to explore some of the most ruggedly beautiful yet inaccessible natural treasures in the world.
This exciting adventure sport is very popular all over Europe: in France, Spain, Italy, Austria, Switzerland etc. In America, canyoning is well developed in the USA as well as in Mexico, Canada, Cuba and Chili. In Africa, it is possible to practice canyoning in Morocco, Réunion Island, Madagascar and Océanie.
Trip Route:
The fact that Lunga Khola Canyon is located in Nar Phu region, fairly new and less explored trekking area, our aim is not only limited to develop the Canyoning site but to explore more options of extending trekking routes beyond Naar and Phu villages. During the reconnaissance trip in the area, our Canyoneers have found out that there is a possibility of extending standard Nar Phu trek by adding more destination and routes. The usual Nar Phu trek goes in to Naar and Phu villages and turns back the same trail to join the main trail of Annapurna circuit where as extended route can lead trekkers towards Manang Valley crossing over the Kang-la pass. This will be a trek of at least 10 days, which of course can be extended all the way to Thorung Pass ending at Muktinath or Jomsom. As the Annapurna circuit (one of the top ten trekking trail in the world) has been virtually destroyed due to the construction of motor road to Muktinath in Kaligandaki Valley, and also to the district headquarter of Manang (Marshyangdi Valley), this newly discovered trekking trail will be a great support to carry on the legend of this world renowned trekking trail.
