Humla is a mountainous district in Karnali Zone in the north – west corner of bordering . It is the country’s second largest district with an area of the 5655 sq. km. and with altitude ranging from 1500 – 7300 meters. This hidden region is rich in bio-diversity being home to many endangered and elusive species and plants. The area is endowed with immense natural beauties and astounding culture. In 1993, government of and reached an agreement that allowed first treks across the border between the two countries in Humla. There are quite few trekking trails in Humla. Since Simikot is the main gateway to the Holy Mt.Kailash the Trail has become a very popular route in the region. Among the other trails, the ‘Upper Humla Natural and Cultural Trail’ is newly promoted very unique trekking trail that was open to trekkers only in 1997.
Dolpa is located in the Shey- Phoksundo National park of mid- western Nepal, behind the Dhaulagiri massif, towards the Tibetan plateau, cut off by a series of very high passes and closed by the snow most of the year. Dolpa remains a truly isolated corner of . Time has stood still here for centuries as inhabitants of Tibetan stock continue to live, cultivate and trade the way they have done since time immemorial.
