Dhulikhel Nagarkot Tour
Though an easy trek to the area North-east of Kathmandu, is somewhere off the beaten trail. This is very nice trek for people who do not have much time or who want to trek on a short and easy route. The mountain views are spectacular. The maximum height elevation is about 8500 ft. or 2562m. So this is an excellent choice for the spring trek as the area is mostly covered with a dense forest. The rhododendron and all the spring flowers will be out. Bird-watching is good on this trek so make sure to bring your binoculars with you if you have one.
Dhulikhel
At an elevation of 1,440 m (4,708 ft.), a town and resort area lies 32- Kilometers east of Kathmandu on the Highway towards Tibet. It is a small town with five-hundred year-old history. Streets are in lines with brick houses featuring carved wooden windows; sloping tiles of Pagoda temples and sacred statues abound the city. Nature has provided terraced hillsides with clear views of more than twenty Himalayan peaks, on a clear day. There are fine hotels where one can stay.
Nagarkot
Only a short 30 Kilometer drive from the center of the valley, laying to the east of the Kathmandu Valley at an elevation of 2175 meters (7112 feet), Nagarkot provides a grandstand view of the Himalayas. The snowy peaks are outstanding at the sunrise and the sunset. Often visible are the Everest (8848 meters, 29,028 ft.) Lhotse (8576 meters, 28,135 ft.), Cho-oyo (8463 meters, 27,674 ft.), and Manaslu (8163 meters, 26,693 ft.), five of the world's tallest mountains.
Nagarkot also offers good bird watching in the forest and short hikes in a peaceful hilltop resort setting. Only the wind and the sound of rustling leaves is heard at this favorite weekend getaway for those seeking Himalayan scenery and serenity at any one of several nice hotels.
